Source (Quizlet): ÖH
A digital tool that allows you to quickly check emails and to dos? To see all institutions and offers by the university at a glance? To stay up to date on events for students organised by the ÖH and the student representatives? To connect with others?
You can find all of this on Student Place with just one login. Oriented, informed and connected at the University of Salzburg. Where? Here!
You enjoy studying with flashcards but can’t find the motivation to write onto/create them? Then give Quizlet a go! With this app you can easily create different flashcard sets on your smartphone. You can use images and have your vocab translated automatically. This means that you can study everywhere and have everything saved on your smartphone. Click here to get to the app’s website.
Available for iOS, Android and GooglePlay.
If you enjoy eating at the cafeteria, we recommend checking out the Mensa Club app.
Students and uni employees receive two mensa coins for every euro they spend.
Also:
In your Mensa App you can see the amount of bonus points you’ve collected and – more importantly – the current menu!
Have you ever heard of mensa card? You can get it at the ÖH Beratungscentrum (ÖH Service Centre) at Unipark and get your food at the cafeteria cheaper!
StudySmarter is for everyone who wants to study more efficiently and be well-prepared for exams. Whether you need summaries, flash cards or interactive study plans, the app has it all – perfect to study in a more structured and productive way. You can create your own study material or access content made by other students.
Extra bonus: The app analyses your study habits and helps to study smarter instead of harder. Perfect for long library sessions or a last-minute-cramming marathon.🚀
Have you tried it yet?🙌
If you tend to automatically grab your phone, apps like App Block might be useful for you! With App Block you can block apps and websites for set times of the day – ideal for not paying attention to Instagram and other distracting apps for some time. With the app Forest you can also plant (virtual) trees with your productivity and work together with other students.
Pulling all nighters? Not a good idea! More and shorter study periods are often more efficient than studying for hours, driven by caffeine. Many enjoy the Pomodoro technique: You study for 25 minutes with a high focus, then you hear an alarm. Before you continue studying, you treat yourself to a five-minute break, during which you can scroll through your Insta feed or check Facebook, without feeling guilty. Six to eight hours of studying a day should be enough!
Are you looking for a sustainable alternative to the Google search engine? We recommend Ecosia. With this search engine you can plant trees! Ecosia uses the revenue of your searches to plant trees where they are needed. Download the free browser extension and contribute to the tree-planting movement with each of your searches!
Do you want more study tips?
Take a look at this blog article by ÖH (only available in German) – we really like the tips they mention!
We actually prefer studying at the library – either at Unipark (where you can just hide away from the outside world for a little bit) the main library (also open on Saturdays!). Stadtbibliothek, Salzburg’s main library, is also a great place for studying!
Have you ever heard about different learning techniques?
Check out this (German) blog post by the ÖH and try new methods that can actually make learning fun.
Our favourite learning technique – if we’ve not plastered the whole flat with post it notes – is co-studying. Meet your study-buddies face-to-face or online early in the morning, set yourselves daily goals, work side by side in the same room or offline and pay each other company. Treat yourselves to coffee breaks and go through it together. It’s more fun! 😊 At the end of your study day, you can reflect together on how it went, share your worries and celebrate your wins. 🥳
