Spending time with other students can be so fun and enriching, whether it’s in our spare time, in our flat share with our roommates or when studying. Community can strengthen us! Preparing for exams together can even make exam season much more bearable. Cooperation is also necessary when doing group work or preparing presentations. To work successfully together with others, you need suitable spaces with enough chairs, silence – but also the option to chat – AND enough power outlets.
Over the past years, a lot of those cool places to study and hang out have been created at NLW – also with aid of Plustrack!
1. Student Lounge
In the Student Lounge you’ll find cosy seating areas, ranging from sofas to swings (!), loads of desks and power outlets. Whether you want to work on your own or in a group, it’s possible here.
To find the Student Lounge, enter NLW through the main entrance and then turn left. It’s opposite the ping pong tables.
BONUS: We all know that winters at NLW can be quite cold – but the Student Lounge is heated! Nice!
2. Hive
Just walk through the Student Lounge to reach the Hive. Here you can work productively, like busy bees in a hive. 😊🐝
The Hive is bright and has plenty of seating. You’ll also find an open bookshelf there, in case you need new reading material and a break from required reading.
3. Studi Zimmer (Student Room, former Old Cafeteria)
The Studi Zimmer is behind two glass doors that are located to the right of the cafeteria.
It offers an open bookshelf, a ping pong table and loads of places to chill.
The room’s history is quite special: The spot actually used to be a very popular and busy café and THE place to be for students. Countless presentations were planned there and a worrying amount of money was spent on coffee. Then the Old Cafeteria closed and wasn’t used for years.
But that changed! A group of master students, in cooperation with the faculty representatives and the student representatives, started the project “Bringing New Life to the Old Cafeteria”. The vision was to create a space for students that is warm, cosy, lively and where they could just chill!
They painted, moved things around, installed power outlets and WI-FI and bought new furniture. The result is really great!
